DISCLAIMER - COLLECTION OF UMBILICAL CORD BLOOD FOR STEM CELL STORAGE

The Health Division accepts no responsibility whatsoever for the collection, storage and transportation of cord blood for stem cell storage. The parents are solely and exclusively responsible for supplying the necessary kit required for cord blood collection, storage and transportation of the sample.

Staff working in the Health Division may assist in the collection of the sample; however, they are in no way whatsoever responsible for obtaining storage and transportation of the said sample.

Parents choosing to carry out the collection must sign a disclaimer where they shall hold the Government of Malta and its staff working within the Health Division free from any responsibility whatsoever, and shall not at any time institute any claim whether civil or criminal against the Government of Malta or any member of its staff working within the Health Division if the sample is for whatever reason unobtainable, insufficient, contaminated or if failure to collect the sample results. The Health Division and its personnel who extract the sample shall not be liable if for whatever reason the sample is not stored successfully. Parents renounce to their rights at law to sue the Government of Malta and any of its staff working within the Health Division for damages, whether direct or indirect, principal or ancillary, arising from any action or omission in connection with the collection of umbilical cord blood.
